Leighton discovered his love of radio as a schoolboy, gaining invaluable experience behind the microphone on hospital radio.

In 1992, he made the move into commercial broadcasting, becoming a familiar voice on two of South Wales' most iconic stations: Swansea Sound and The Wave 96.4 FM.
