About (See Press Release)
Welcome to Welsh Coast Radio, broadcasting from Tircoed Village in Swansea, we’re a proudly independent station championing the real sound of the Welsh coast.
Rooted in community, shaped by creativity, and driven by a love of music, Welsh Coast Radio brings together local voices, presenter-led shows, and feel-good playlists that roll in like the tide. Whether you're here for fresh sounds, nostalgic throwbacks, or community stories—we’re your station by the sea.
Powered entirely by a passionate team of presenters, the station is built on heart, not headlines.
Originally called SA Radio Live (re-branded from Radio Tircoed), the station launched at 7am on Monday 30th September 2024, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Swansea Sound, the first commercial local radio station in Wales which ceased broadcasting in 2020, followed by its sister station The Wave in 2024.
SA Radio Live finished in June 2025, when ownership changed and the name to "Welsh Coast Radio" for Swansea and South Wales.
The station features a broad mix of classic hit music and a local playlist boasting Swansea’s finest musical talent, showcasing the city’s best new music.
It includes a number of much loved Swansea Sound and Wave presenters: Rob Pendry, Plastic Sam, Chris ‘Smithy’ Smith, Griff Harries, and James Lewis. Former Radio Tircoed presenters also host shows including a Welsh language programme, specialist music and a more eclectic mix of quality tracks at night. The station is committed to broadcasting local what’s on information and supporting local charities.
Local businesses can also take advantage of affordable radio advertising and sponsorship opportunities.
The station can be heard across Swansea, online at welshcoastradio.com, and on 106.5 FM in the North and East of the city.
